I don't know how many of my friends read livejournal regularly anymore, but people do ask for updates on my life now and then.

Hm. Still single. Depending on the day, that's either a good thing or a neutral thing - I don't think I'm the bitter-single type. Have been meeting interesting people, but a lot of the time they turn out to be not so great or not so interesting. Or interested.

This is the last semester of the post-grad journalism program, and I'm a little less than halfway through a four-month internship at a local TV station - local not to me, though, so I do about two and a half hours of commuting a day. They work with so-called video reporters, meaning that the same person does shooting, interviewing and editing. I've learned a lot and done maybe twenty news segments so far. Watch this space for other professional news...

I also write movie reviews, TV articles and other stuff for a monthly entertainment magazine. Right now I'm watching my sixth movie this weekend. My brain hurts a little.

That weekend actually includes yesterday, because I got a mild case of strep. Yay stress.

Still doing pottery now and then; don't have much time or energy for knitting right now.

There's been this pile of clothes moving around my bedroom for the past week or so, that I haven't gotten around to putting away. When Le Man moved onto the couch, it wound up on his formed side of the bed.

Normally, I would have taken care of it much quicker, but I realized I didn't want to clear it, because that would mean that half of the bed was definitively empty.

I put the clothes away this morning. It was pretty sad.

Sometimes other people amaze me. Sometimes in a good way, more often than not, well, not.

I'm often accused of being an elitist, and some days I take that as a compliment, or even just a plain ol' descriptive noun. Fine, I'm an elitist. The world is full of dipshits and asshats.

Sometimes these feelings coincide with monthly hormonal fluctuations and tension headaches. Not always.

I'm just so... sick of people. Down with people.

Last time I was at IKEA, I found these jersey sheets on massive sale, and this weekend I put them on the bed for the first time. They're so soft and warm, I love it.

Sometimes my subconscious is so prosaic.

Last night I dreamed that my hair had suddenly gotten long enough to put up into a ponytail. The dream then spent a long time and went into great detail about the troubles I had in making this ponytail look good.

(I'm sure there's deep meaning in the fact that it changed length and curliness throughout, huh?)

I'm vacillating wildly* about my future. A lot of the time I'm really happy about going into journalism, especially when I manage to sell big pieces to magazines I like**, and then at other times I just want to drop out and go to Thailand, or Scotland, or wherever, for three years. Or move to some dinky little town in the north of Sweden and make coffee for bratty teenagers. Or become a potter.

This is all part of growing up, and of human existence, I know. It's a quarter-life crisis. Of which I have many. But I want a fortune cookie that pretty much grabs me by the underwear elastic and makes my decisions for me. Plz?

* Yes, I listen to too much Smiths. And "oscillate" makes me want to insert an S into vacillate.

I glazed the products of my first pottery class. This is some of the stuff that came out pretty well.

I'm going to be drinking a lot of tea out of this mug. The saucer wasn't made to go with it, but they work really well together shape and size wise, so I glazed them to sort-of match.

These mugs were slip painted black, the cherry blossoms free-hand etched out, and then the whole thing glazed red. I'm going to try it again now that I'm more confident with my shapes (this was pretty early on in the class) but I like the general idea. (Which happened to be my own. :) )

A really simple glaze on a really simple, but nice, shaped bowl. Mom wants to steal it for ikebana (Japanese flower arranging).

The blue glaze hadn't been stirred up properly, so there's a really significant difference in texture and coverage. I like it, even though it wasn't intentional.

I wasn't too hot on this as a shape, so I tried a glaze experiment. Which I really liked and will try again, on something else.

I really like throwing clay.

I brow-beat my sewing machine back into submission. Yay!

First I borrowed Anna's and made a bag, though.

It came out way too huge, if nice, so I'll probably make another one that's a little less carry-around-a-golden-retriever-sized.

This I made a really wide apron for pottery class - there's an extra-instated one this weekend, and Mom and I are insane and signed up.

I was in fact up at nine, despite falling drunkenly into bed at four, because my darling mother called me to say that she'd changed her mind and wanted to do the class. And then I couldn't go back to sleep, so I went to the storage room in the basement and found all the fabrics I inherited from my grandmother when she passed away. I have several projects lined up. I can't find my giant swatch of jersey knit, though, which sucks, because I wanted to make a nice soft dress.

The drunkenness came from going out with my brothers and newly (re)discovered sister. Gotta love broken families. (Hi Marianna, if you read this.)

I met up with Anton for tea/coffee and cinnamon buns today, but I was a few minutes early and he was a few minutes late, so I people-watched.

There was a hipster-type boy sitting by himself at a table, eating a sandwich and reading Hemingway. (I couldn't quite see the title, though.)

I am a bad bad person and immediately wondered if he actually wanted to read Hemingway, or if that was just what he thought a hipster-type boy would read, sitting by himself in a hipster bar and feeling hipster and superior.

Then I made the world's biggest bag. Oops.
